Suffered Heat Stroke While Running Marathon, Collapsed, Since Then Sweat Easily, Become Irritable. Is This A Permanent Side Effect Of Heat Stroke?

About 30 years ago, I suffered a heat stroke while completing a running marathon in 80+ degree weather. I collapsed and was unable to situp or walk for several hours. I was administered fluids po, but not IV, with a doctor s supervision. Since that incident, I find myself much less tolerant of warm temperatures/climate. I sweat easily, become irritable, and generally do not function well. Is this a permanent side effect of heat stroke......to be affected by heat more, and less tolerant of warm temps?

Hi
Welcome to health care magic.
The heat stroke happens to be very critical event that threatens life and the physiology critically.
If you had suffered very high temperature rise during the episode of heat stock, then there may be a permanent memory in your nervous system for that event that makes you more susceptible to temperature variation specially high temperatures and hot and damp environments so it is quite possible that your tolerance to heat and humid environment is less and it is also advisable that an elderly person of that age should avoid excessive variations of temperature.
Try to maintain a good baseline activity and health.
I hope the advice will be helpful for you.
