Hi and thanks for the query,
management of IBS at times might be difficult, requiring to switch form one management protocol to the next. One method working for one person might not necessarily work for the next. Treatment is both medical and changing of life style habits. Fruits, vegetables, fibres and exercise have proven helpful in most people. Avoiding foods that aggravate symptoms is a great idea. Drinking a lot of water and fluids and avoiding late meals at night might also be useful. Failure of these measures to work over a considerable amount of time to work might compel the treating physician to prescribe various drugs, or try to exclude organic courses of similar symptoms like colonic cancer or polyps.
Taking an appointment with a gastroenterologist for proper check is my suggestion.
Thanks and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
