Why Do I Feel Like Others Are Talking Or Laughing At Me Every Time I Go Outside?

Since I was in high school ,I have had a very difficult time being around other people,I feel like everyone is looking at me ,when I hear a group of people talking or laughing i feel it s about me,i am constantly avoiding any and all situations where I might see people,I m 46 now and it s getting worse, its getting hard for me to go to work and be around people I ve been working with for several years,I have a doctor but a rarely see her, because the waiting room is another place I cant handle, what is wrong with me?

Hello,

It could sound like social anxiety. It would be a good idea to see a psychologist. If the waiting room is to overwhelming for you, maybe you can call and make an appointment where you don't need to wait in the waiting room.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kasper Kristensen, General & Family Physician
