Since 1996 I have had pain just under my right rib and around the front to my back. It is very sever pain 10 out of 10. I went to two different Gastroenterologists and they gave me every gastro test there was and most of them several times. I lived on Ensure and soda crackers. By 1999 I was 85 lbs. and they wanted to put in a feeding tube. Our oldest daughter was getting married in a few months and I promised them that I would gain a few lbs while away. It so happened that a month and a half after her wedding that we were moving 3,000 miles away. So as I promised I managed to gain a few pounds and the name of a gastroenterologist in Victoria, BC. We moved the end of July and it was several months till I was able to get into the new specialist. After giving him all my history he said he thought he knew what it was. He did not want to put me through all those tests again, but needed me to go through two (2). One was a sweat cloride test and the other I cannot remember. When I arrived at my appointment for the sweat cloride test the nurse was surprised that I was a 52 year old woman. Any way we went through the test and later the other test. When I retured to the doctor's office for the results he informed me that the sweat cloride test was 62 which meant that I had aduld on set CF. Between the two test he had done and on the medical history meant that my pancreas was no longer producing any digestive enzyms for which I would have to take Creon 25. One before I began to eat and 2 during my meal. The reason I was getting pneumonia so often was a mucous problem as well as a malabsorbtion problem. Well everything started getting better with taking the Creon 25, I could eat and not get any pain and so slowly I began to put weight back on. The only problem I continued to get pneumonia, 8 times in one year. Got the pneumonia shot and that really helped and have since had the new pneumonia 23 shot. However still have a big problen with malabsorbtion. About 6 years ago the severe pain with the complete runs plagued me constrantly. After numerous ultra sounds, colonescopy and endoscopy no results. The specialist does not know. One would think he would have brought another doctor in by now. Even when I get extremely frustrated and angry he just sort of throws up his arms, yet he is suppose to be the best Gastroenterologist on Vancouver Island. The pathologist, after checking tissue taken from my stomach, colon, etc, suggested that perhaps bile from my liver is splashing over into my stomach, My gallbladder was taken out in the early 2000's. The doctor did find some redness in my stomach.
Where on earth do I go from hear? I cannot keep living like this, it has taken every pleasure out of my life. On top of everything else I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sjoigrend's Syndrom. Please, please tell me what I should do now.
