Should Titanium Rod Be Removed From Right Tibia After A Certain Duration?
on 1-22-14 i had a titanium rod and four screws in my right tibia and i was just wondering if i should have the hardware removed over a certain period of time.i am 32 years old, it hasnt been that long so i really don t know what too do because it really dont bother me until i sleep on my right side and if im on it most of the day but iv seen so many that say leave it in and so many say have it removed........ i just dont know what too do.
- Titanium implants through the tibia generally don't need to be removed. Plates are often removed between 1-2 years after being put in place. Rods can be left in without any issues. - I would suggest you have an in-depth conversation with your ortho doctor when you go for a follow-up.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
