Should The Medication Amlodipine Be Discontinued While Having BP Of 110/55?

I am an 81 yrs old female taking 25 mg atenolol twice daily and 2.5 mg amlodipine besylate for high blood pressure . My pressure is now 110/55. Should I discontinue the amlodipine? I feel weak in the morning and continue to have palpitations and rapid pulse thruout the day.

Dear,

I have gone through your question and I can understand your concern. Your blood pressure is low due to medication, that explains also your weakness in the morning. Atenolol is a drug used to treat high blood pressure, but also increased heartbeats, so I think that you should take 50 mg Atenolol twice daily and stop taking Amlodipine. However, you should discuss that change in therapy with your treatment doctor, who knows you better.
