Should Tender Bump In Shin Be Iced And X-rayed?

During a soccer game a week ago my son was kicked in the inside shin. He still has a bump, it s tender to the touch and occasionally hurts while walking. He did not tell us about it until yesterday. Is it too late to ice it and should it be x-rayed?

Hi
Thanks for writing
You may very well continue with Ice fomentation followed by compression bandage. As I have gone through your query, he is able to walk around and pain wise he is better than yesterday? So it does not seem to be a fracture case.
But the x ray has its own place, what our naked eye cannot see it can.
Take care
