Hello, Your doctor has prescribed cholesterol lowering agent belonging to group of medicines statins. According to FDA Statins does show the risk of increase in blood sugar.FDA has added diabetes warning to statin label.Still there are trials going on whether to take statins as a preventive measure to normal people or diabetics.Though benefits of statins on the heart far outweighs its side effects your doctor will decide whether to take this or not depending on your problem. Hope this helps. Thank you.
