Should I Be Concerned About Intermittent Fast Heart Beat?

Hi, I am 23 years old, female. I have been noticing that my heart suddenly beats very fast for a few seconds, and then it comes back to normal…this process ends very quickly. It used to be once or twice every week since a few weeks prior but now its happening for atleast 5-6 times every day. I checked my pulse during that time and it was 74 first, jumped to 112 for 10 seconds and then came back down to 84. As of my now, my pulse recording is 119. Is this something to be very concerned about?

Thanks for using healthcaremagic.I understand your concern.
Brief answer: Not much, but you need a basic cardiac check.
Detailed answer:
According to me,you need not be much concerned at present as extra heart beats(sudden intermittent palpitations)commonly called heart hiccups can occur in healthy individuals, which is usually self limited.I would advise my patients with this condition, initially a 12 lead basic ECG to rule out any heart rhythm derangement. However increased frequency of palpitations or associated clinical symptoms warrant the need for complete cardiac evaluation.Hope i have answered your query. If any questions, happy to answer you.Take care.
