Should Course Of Zanocin Be Continued Or Stopped After Loose Motion Stops?

Pediatric question : Zanocin 50 mg as prescribed by doctor for my 2 year old son, as he had loose motion twice last day, I gave him one doose last night, but from morning he didn t had any motion should I continue giving zanocin or should I give him only on his next loose motion. My question is whether should I complete the course or should I give him the drug only if he has the motion again.

Hi & Welcome to HCM.
The course of prescribed antibiotic should be completed even if your son's loose motion have stopped.

Zanocin (Ofloxacin) suspension is an antibiotic used in the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections like infective diarrhea, urine infection, respiratory infection, typhoid, etc.

There's a risk of developing resistance if a course of antibiotic is not completed, so I would advise you to continue his treatment even though there's no loose motion.

Hope this will help.
