Should A Nose Pin Be Removed Before Debridement Of A Wound?
hello I m having surgery in a few weeks, debrideing a wound, I m just wondering if I ll have to remove my nose piercing it s not old enough to take out and not close up. I m not sure what to do, I see my doc on Thursday but I just need to know so I can plan something
yes sure you should remove it because during surgery they use cautery which includes a current that will pass through your body and might burn anything with a metal on it. so you might burn your nose if you do a surgery with the pin always there.
i recommend you to remove the pin before surgery and put it back immediatly after the surgery is done to prevent it from closing.
