Should A Medical Check Up Be Done For Dizziness After A Mild Concussion?

A object fell on my head pretty hard Thursday morning at work and shortly after I had trouble focusing and feeling dizzy. I woke up the next day feeling nauseous, tired, dizzy and disoriented throughout the day. I didn't feel nauseous today but still feeling dizzy and hard to focus. I'm thinking I have a mild concussion. Should I go to the doctor and get checked and possibly get medication for dizziness?

Hello,

Head trauma is a concerning issue. It's may be normal to have the symptoms you experienced.

A headache and dizziness may last several days, even weeks but it's less concerning when these symptoms evolve in a decreasing scale and when there aren't new symptoms like vomitus, seizures, nose leaking, motor weakness of extremities.

In your case, I think the symptoms are gradually resolving. You may use some analgesics for your headache like acetaminophen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Neurologist, Surgical Dr. Dr. Erion Spaho's  Response
Hello,

Since more than 24 hours passed and you already are feeling improved, I don't think yours is a serious condition.

It may be a mild concussion, but it is in most cases, a self-limiting condition, and medical evaluation is necessary only in cases of worsening or prolonged symptoms.

So, if you feeling better, I think that medical evaluation is not an emergency.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
