Should A Doctor Be Consulted For An Indentation On The Head After An Injury?

My 23 year old daughter fell and hit her head last night, and it immediately formed a bump. Today there is an indent in the same area. Her pupils are fine, no headache, or disorientation, and no other problems. Should she see a doctor? My husband just changed jobs and his new insurance doesn t start for a month, so I don t want to take her in if not necessary.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Everything is fine.

The bump most likely was a temporary effect of the trauma to the skull with some fluid and maybe a little bruising.

The indentation is probably a normal landmark that was there before this happened and now reappeared after the swelling went down.

Hope I have answered your query.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
