Should Prozac Be Weaned Off Before Starting Paxil?
Hi my mom was on Paxil and her doctor switched her to Prozac. A few weeks in she started complaining about increasing pain all over. She was switched back to Prozac and is now in what is being described as a psychotic state. Should there have been a period of weaning off the Prozac before she started up with the Paxil again?

The procedure can vary when switching from the different medications but for switching from paxil to prozac, the paxil is normally stopped and the prozac started.
When going from prozac to paxil, there is sometimes a waiting period after the prozac is stopped before the paxil is started but this can vary.
