Should I Stop Taking Flecainide For Irregular Heartbeat?

I am 81 years old . I have been on flecainide for 10 years. For the last 2 and1/2 years 100mg 2/day. A doctor took me off the drug saying it was too dangerous at my age. Since then I have had irregular heart beats and I am very tired. The doctor suggested a pace maker. My question is. Was I and am I better off just being back on the flecainide? My previous two cardiologists did not suggest going off the drug.

Hello,

Pacemaker placement is not safe at this age and oral drugs like flecainide will be a better choice. Consult a cardiologist and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
