Should I See A Doctor For A Painful, Swollen Bruise Due To Falling On Ice?

I fell yesterday evening in the snow coming into my house, within minutes I had a huge bruise running the length of my right thigh. I could not lay on that side last night and it woke me when I rolled onto it. This morning it is swollen, extremely painful with the tender portion going from my hip to behind my knee. Should I see a doctor or can I take care of this at home? If so how.

Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I highly suggest to go to ER as soon as possible and to see an orthopedist for further evaluation.

Meanwhile, you can apply cold pad to the swollen area for today.

By tomorrow, I advise to apply blended onion with salt to reduce swelling.

Once again, go and see a physician as soon as possible for further evaluation.
