Sharp Consistant Chest Pain. Phlegm On Coughing, Headache, Fluctuating Temperature. Had Panadol. Suggestion?

Hi i'm a a 15 year old female and since sunday i have been experiencing sharp consistant chest pain thats getting worse and very painful. I have been coughing up phlegm on a regular basis since wednesday and it is now friday. I have got a throbbing headache and panadol isnt doing anything. I have had fluxuating temperatures

Hi and thanks for the query,
What you describe requires an intense and detailed clinical assessment. The first thing to be considered is a chronic lung infection. Pulmonary tuberculosis must be excluded. A sputum examination, chest X rays and appropriate cultures must be done. Another very possible cause is a lung abscess. A chest x ray, complete blood counts in search for elevated white blood cells counts shall be very very informative.
I suggest you meet your pulmonologist for a detailed evaluation and management. I think you need medical attention for an appropriate early diagnosis, management and prevention of complications.
