Reason For Gaining Sense Of Smell Suddenly After Long Time?

Hello this isn t a very important question but when I was in 3rd grade (I m now 21) I was hit fairly hard in the face-nose area with a softball and lost the vast majority of my smell, I never really thought much of it but recently (the past few months) I ve been rapidly regaining my smell! It s been so weird and it s lead me to wonder what exactly happened and why is it coming back now. I was wondering if you had any idea as to why it would come back so suddenly after so long.

Hi, welcome to Health care magic forum.
It appears that you have some fracture,of facial bones, causing pressure on the olfactory nerve, caused the loss of olfactory function. Recently it would have released from the pressure, and regain its function.
The other cause may be the damage of nasal mucosa and regain the the natural epithelium, but it wont take that much time.
I advise you to consult a neurologist for diagnosis and treatment, and to gain some other functions if any . You may need to have a C.T.scan for diagnosis.
Take more of green leafy vegetables, pulses, sprouts, and protein rich foods to have blood, general health and resistance against infections.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
