Protruding Ribs, Tender To The Touch, Painful. Any Ideas?

my son came home from school with protruding left lower ribs, anterior. they are very tender to the touch. he is a wrestler and very fit. he does have a weight lifting class during the day. he denies any lifting or injury today. he says it was mild pain this morning, after getting out of bed, by two his ribs were prodtuding and it was very tender to touch..... any ideas??

Hi

You need to take him to your Doctor for physical examination and if needed for Skiagram.

Protruding ribs with pain and tenderness, in a wrestler, needs attention, as Rib fracture has to be ruled out for sure.

Till you visit a doctor, you may give him Acetaminophen in a dose of 15 mg/kg/dose , repeated every 6 hrs for pain relief.
