Over a month ago I had the old filling removed from a molar and replaced with the new white filling - dentist also had to rebuild the side of my tooth. When he first stuck the needle in to freeze it, within seconds I felt like my throat was closing up and I couldn't breath. It took me about 5 minutes to come back to normal. Dentist said it was because my tongue was frozen - but I've never had a reaction like that before. Ever since that day, I have a horrible metallic taste in my mouth - it's almost like I can smell the metallic taste - and everything I eat tastes funny. The smell of coffee, which I love, is so strong to me now that I can barely stand it. I don't know what happened, but I'm wondering if the needle hit a nerve and caused damage? Any idea? I'm meeting with my dentist tomorrow as he's been on vacation since this happened.
