Nausea After Taking Bactrim. How Long Will This Symptom Last?

Hi my mom is taking Bactrim and is extremely nauseus, she wants to stop taking it but I want her to stay on it because it's her last resort as far as antibiotocs go for the absces she has in her large intestine. She tried every other drug and she cannot tolerate them. She needs to stay on an antibiotic before having surgery which could be anywhere from 2 weeks to a month (it's not yet scheduled) in order for them to do laproscopic. If the infection comes back she will need the bad surgery ending with needing a bag. My question is, will the nausea/vomitting pass or will she stay feeling this sick the entire time she needs to take this drug? thank you

Hi

Thanks for asking.

it is very difficult to judge how a particular side effect of a medication is going to behave in due course of time.

most of the times the side effects gets reduced with time although it is not true in some cases.

you can try some medications for the nausea and vomiting to buy some time while she is waiting for surgery.

Thanks.
