My Wife Took A Walk (she Is 41) Two Days

My wife took a walk (she is 41) two days ago and came home with bad blisters from her shoes. The next day the only thing that bothered her were the blisters (which she has disinfected and covered up). However today, (day three) her ankle is visibly swollen. She tells me that it does not look red to her, but it is visibly swollen when she compares it to the other ankle. Do you think she is running an infection from the blisters and needs to go get some antibiotics. Should we wait until morning and see if it is still swollen. (P.S. she rarely complains about anything hence if she calls me at work and tells me its swollen, I am sure it's swollen)
