My wife had severe rheumatic fever as a child. I understand that heart valve damage can become evident 20-40 years later. To what extent will this make her more susceptible to an aortic dissection. If as I believe the answer must be affirmative, would you agree that rheumatic fever should be listed as a predisposition together with for example - hypertension, cocaine use and Marfans syndrome, in relevant medical texts, which it is not at present?
