Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son has a hematoma in his right calf which is the result of a calf muscle strain. He has been to 4 weeks of PT and one attempt by a radiologist to aspirate. The ultrasound guided procedure was unsuccessful due to the viscosity of the fluid. The orthopedic has recommended surgery to remove the fluid. The fluid is located just below the knee in a very tender area which is keeping my son from being able to put any weight on the leg. According to the orthopedic this is a rather unusual condition because the hematoma should have been absorbed by now. I trust this Dr. but wonder if there is another treatment available other than surgery.
