My Husband Sustained A Degloving Injury To His Left Hip

My husband sustained a degloving injury to his left hip (and a severely broken collarbone) in a cycling accident 9 days ago. The swelling to his hip is EXTREME (freakish, almost?) and the bruising is horrific. An xray was taken and there was nothing broken; the first three days were extremely uncomfortable (pain rating of 9 out of a 10) but then it started to dissipate. Nine days after the accident, he is reporting a pain level in his hip of 2/10. The hip is still incredibly swollen. The bruising is also moving down his leg; his leg and foot (which were not bruised/swollen after the accident)are both now very bruised and the swelling is increasing. Is this typical? Should we be concerned? Thank you.
