My husband has been having difficulty swallowing when eating. He is very limited in what he can swallow. He is hoarse and has hacking cough. He has had EGD, barium swallow, ultra sound of thyroid and blood work. All were normal except blood showed thyroid levels were slightly elevated. He had the ultra sound and they called with results. Thyroid is slightly enlarged with a small nodule. They want to wait about 6 months and see if it is growing. Meanwhile, my husband can hardly swallow any kind of food. My feelings are that we shouldn t wait. I want to see someone who specializes in the throats and thyroid. What do you think and what kind of specialist should we see?

What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. At this point I think you should visit an ENT doctor to see his throat with a fibroscope. Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
