My head has become large and i get sharp pains in it. Do i need a surgery ?
I am 16, about 5 7, 10 stone. During recent years my head shape is massively changed, not only has it grown in size, but it has become extremely bumpy and not smooth. This is a huge concern as it has seemed to have an impact on my face which has also significantly increased in width which isn t particularly good-looking. I also get sharp pains in my head a few times a day which last for about 10 seconds each. To describe my head shape further, it sticks out on each side (on the right side alot more than the left) and the left back of my head sticks out more than the right back side of my head. Please can you help me, I have been to a Doctor but she just dismissed this. Do you think I should go and see a craniofacial surgeon? Thank you
Enlargement of head and headache! I don't think you can afford to ignore it. There are multiple causes ,some serious others just benign. One of these is Hydrocephalus i..e increase in amount and pressure of fluid (CSF) in the cranium. First go to an eye specialist who will check your eyes to look for any evidence of increased intracranial pressure. You also need a CT scan or MRI of head. You should consult a Neurologist or Neurosurgeon in your town to get the right diagnosis and treatment.

I am experiencing sudden, sharp, intermittent pain in the upper right side of the back of my head. Very severe but lasts just a few seconds, then it recurs. The scalp area feels mildly sensitive to touch. I have absolutely no history of this, but the oddness and pain of it causes me concern. I am a 66 yr-old male, retired university dean, who is very active physically--long-distance swimming (swam 6.6 miles to celebrate my birthday last month), triathlon, regular running ans cycling. My question is, should I be concerned? Should I seek medical consultation immediately?

My son was born with cleft lip and palate. He recently had an expansion appliance installed which widened his upper jaw. He is prone to nose bleeds. He just had one that we had difficulty stopping, and it appears the cleft opening in his hard palate has now opened, causing blood to go into his mouth. How can we stop a nose bleed like this the next time it occurs?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I was born with a cleft palate, since my late teens i've had what may be sinis problems, with mucus (especially when i have a cold) coming down my throat more than my nose. like ther's a gap, when i vomit more will come through my nose than my mouth, odd i know. Are they connected as an efffect of having a cleft palate? Is there something that's not closed?

30 years ago my 3rd son was born with a cleft lip and palate. He is having sinus issues now and need reconstructive sinus surgery. His health plan will not cover this because they say it is congenital from birth. Is it possible that this is not related to his birth defect ? Lots of people have sinus reconstruction and never had a cleft lip and palate. They still have messed up sinuses and need surgery.
