My Grandson, Eight Years An Only Child, Developed A "retarded"

My grandson, eight years an only child, developed a "retarded" gait........sometimes dragging his left leg, some loss of use of his hands, slowed, slurred sounding speech, and marked less interaction with his classmates and family. His personality is markedly different. He shows very little affect........flat mostly, and seems indifferent to others. His labs and CT scan are normal. I have thought perhaps it is conversion disorder but apparently the "personality change" rules out that diagnosis. I'm curious as to any thoughts or insights that might be had.
