Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter broke out about 3 weeks ago with skin bumps in creases of hands, feet, stomach, and just itching all over. She went to see an urgent care doctor who told her she had contact dermatitis to change her laundry detergent and soap. Did that and did not help. We had not changed anything. Went to her dermatologist who told her she had maybe scabies but no one of her college roommates in the same dorm are having the issue. He prescribed her permethrin cream and atarax for itching. This was 3 days ago. Not really any better. I am now concerned if she could be having some type of reaction to one of her medications even though she has been on a few months. She is on Buspar prn (takes on Tuesday and Thursday of each week) and daily takes Welchol. She is on these medications for anxiety. The dermatologist did a POCT KOH and just said "no mites observed but scybula present. That is why he treated her with Permethrin. She says the itching is some better with atarax but not really. What could be causing this? She has not been around anyone with scabies and I find it odd that her 3 dorm suite mates are perfectly fine even though they are together all the time in close quarters. Please help.
