My Dad Is 65 And Chronic IDDM Since 25 Years.

My dad is 65 and chronic IDDM since 25 years. Last year he suddenly have hearing problem along with severe headaches, vertigo and eye n neck pain. He went through all treatments possible but at the end neurologist prescribed him medicines and he felt better though medicines made him lethargic. This July he had sudden rise of intermittent fever with chills with high ESR and low WBC. Doctor was clueless for this prolonged one month fever cause. They took all tests, to rule out TB, malignancy,..etc. but nothing positive. He complained of nasal stuffiness and on diagnosed by ENT sinus discharge was done twice along with prolonged IV antibiotic therapy.
Now he is afebrile but very weak to even sit. On the other end his left eye is better but now right eye vision detrioting. Eye doctor again advised to have another MRI brain. In report there's fluid in mastoid region and area at top to get surgery to avoid I further complication. Could you suggest if ENT is right and if it can improve his vision.
