My cat (1 1/2 year old male began vomiting for two days. He is better but at night and some times during the day he get dry heaves. sometimes producing some white foam but not always. He is fine other times, eating, alert. We think that he may have swallowed something like a star from gift wrap ribbon at Christmas or has a hairball. We have been keeping him in and monitoring. His appetite is fine, we have withheld his dry food, only feeding him small spoons of his wet food. He has pooped and nothing there. Should we give him something to lub his track like vasoline or Loxacane (sp) . He was fine before Christmas. A vet will charge a fortune to do blood, X-ray, etc tests. If he swallowed a foil star from the gift decoration or has a hairball that is huge, will it come out or pass through? What is your advice?
