My Brother Is 64 Years Of Age. His Name Is

My brother is 64 years of age. His name is Bob. He was born in 1949 and raised in Indiana. When he was 15 years old, our father had cancer and he had to give him shots of morphine, which he states was very traumatic to him because Daddy was crying in pain all the time. Our father died at the age of 36 in 1963. He moved to Arkansas, married, had 2 children and divorced. Another brother moved to Arkansas and lived next door to him. Unfortunately, he got involved with drugs and alcohol and shot himself and died in my brother's (Bob) arms. He remarried and his step-grandson became the joy of his life. In an unfortunate accident, Bob's step son was building a dog house and his grandson went into the dog house while it was being built and the dad basically cut his head in half while putting on the roof to the doghouse. He went to see a psychiatrist and was given zanix (spelling?) He divorced and remarried another woman who had severe type 2 diabetes. He had has been taking zanix (spelling?) and drinking A LOT for many years. He decided to move to Florida. After he moved here to Florida, he ran out of Zanix and no other doctor down here would prescribe him the dosage that the doctor in Arkansas did. He began going through what I can only describe as with drawls. He has been to SEVERAL doctors down here and no one will give him anything strong enough to calm him down. He has threatened to hang himself and has been "baker-acted" at least 4 times that I know of. Since they moved to Florida his current wife/partner went into a diabetic coma. Her sugar level was 1100. She almost died. While she was in this coma, she suffered 2 heart attacks and a severe stroke. She has been in the hospital for almost 2 months now. Sometimes he says he "feels to bad" to go and see her. One of the doctors that have seen him prescribed Mirtazapine (15mg) once a day. He says it does not do any good, so he doubles the dose. From what I have read, doubling up on the dose can increase the panic/anxiety attacks, so I have tried to get him to stop that. Since I have told him that, he won't take them because he is "afraid" of them. I am at my wit's end....I don't know if he is putting on an act or if this is real, but he always says "I FEEL BAD", OH, I FEEL BAD. I AM HAVING ANXIETY ATTACKS, I NEED TO GO TO THE ER." He does seem to shake his arms uncontrollably.....but I am not sure if it is an act or not. I honestly don't know what to do. He does not eat right....he only wants to eat McDonald's cheeseburgers because he does not have to cook, do dishes or have any trash. He has stopped bathing, because he is afraid that he will fall in the shower. I have been trying to make an appointment with a psychiatrist who accepts medicare here in Florida, but I only get recordings when I call the office and never a return phone call. Is there anything you can suggest? I would greatly appreciate your assistance. Victoria Johnson
