My blood sugar has been 140-150 for about a year. I weigh 314 lbs., 5'5" tall, female, 60 yrs. old. I have bad knees and couldn't walk more than 50 ft. before sitting. My diet was oatmeal/peanut butter/flax splenda @breakfast, pizza or bean/ cheese burrito @ lunch, brown rice, vegs, chicken, cheese, salsa for dinner with various brownies, pie, cookies and chips in between. Metformin 1000mg x2/Actos 30mgx1 & Lantus 40 units@ bt. Poor sleep and mild depression, PTSD for 50+ yrs. & anxiety(MD. verified.)
So, last week I was able to go to the YMCA arthritis aqua stretching/mild aerobics for 50 min. Blood sugar afterwards tested 118. Chicken salad for lunch/ popcorn snack. Before dinner tested 122. Salad/cheese for dinner. No snack. Next morning tested 96. Did nothing all.day/ tired ached. Similar diet as before. Dinner tested 114. Before bfast next day tested 96. So, my eating has gotten better in pst week- no sweeets, but chips and ate a whole bag of cheese popcorn on e aft. I've going to the Y/ swim arthritis classes every other day for the past week. Diet has not been perfect-pizza,choc.cake,chips,grapefruit every other day. My daily fasting breakfast has been between 86-118 every morn. and pre dinner 98-119 every day last week, gym or no gym time. My Diabetes type 1 friend says its impossible to reduce my numbers daily by 40-50 pts.in a week, just doing what I have been doing and I calling me a liar. I am not lying. I have checked my meter and it is running fine.
Question- Is such a large reduction common for people who slightly reduce their carbs and start exercising in such a short period of time? I'm thrilled with my results and have found that I love water exercise and am definitely continuing. But my friend is adamant that my results are impossible and that I am lying. What could be the reasons I have has such amazing and quick reduction of my blood sugar?
Thank you so much for answering my question.
