My Baby Will Be Three In March. She Has Had

My baby will be three in March. She has had a TBI, and is now Spastic Quadriplegic, Blind, Feeding Problems (GJ Tube), left-sided CP; Seizure D/O and has HUGE tonsils. Her SLP has recommended a tonsillectomy ASAP as they are almost completely touching. What is the benefit vs. the risks? Should I be concerned with the size of her tonsils? Would this be an elective procedure, or something that is medically necessary?
