My Adult Son, Down Syndrome, Had A Sore Europe On

My adult son, Down syndrome, had a sore Europe on his cheek near the corner of his eye a few days ago. It was not a pimple, it had swelling, redness and tender. It's gone down and he said it was better this morning. This afternoon he now has what looks to me as fever blisters around his mouth. There are about a dozen in different stages. He has had a cold but it's been about 8 days and I thought he was getting better. What should I do for his blistering?
