My adult son (54 years), who is overweight, has a rapid heartrate of 117, sweating, tiredness, and feels cold, temperature of 100. He awoke this morning with a swollen jaw beside and beneath his lower jaw bone with a temp of 101.8. A visit to the dentist revealed two teeth side by side with cavities that needed to be removed. Both teeth were extracted, and he was given an antibiotic. He has taken one additional antibiotic tablet since he returned home this afternoon. He had not eaten anything until about 40 minutes ago when he had tomato and basil soup. This only stayed on his stomach for about 15 minutes and then came back. He says he feels better after vomiting; however, I am wondering if he might be ok until morning when he can get more substantial food on his stomach and take more of the antibiotic which he was prescribed. Or should I take him to emergency tonight?
