My Dad has been hospitalized for over a week with no answers. On the 1st of the month he had what seemed to be an eye allergy. He went to the dr and they gave him drops. Then oh the 8th he could not swallow to the point of needing to go to the er. They were going to release him only after giving him iv fluids. I insisted that he be admitted and checked over. He has small lesions on his legs fingers and butt. Theone on his butt is the only painful one. They sort of look like chicken pox spots. His main complaint is his soft palate. His throat is really red inside of his mouth is swollen and he has a hard time swallowing because of the pain in the roof of his mouth. The said it is not bacterial since antibiotics did nothing for his before he went to the er.
No one knows what is wrong. Yet they want to release him from this hospital with no diagnosis or treatment plan. I do NOT want this. He can not eat enough to sustain himself. He is losing weight. He can only do jello, pudding and broth and they have to lidocaine his throat so he can swallow this without severe pain in the roof of his mouth. What could this be. He tested neg for rocky mountain spotted fever. His A1c and liver enzymes are elevated as well as his glucose as he is diabetic. I think this is because of not eating and being dehydrated. They are thinking it may be an auto immune thing. They want to discharge his and follow up with a rheumatologist. It is so not his psoriasis, I know this for sure. I also have it and it looks NOTHING like it. Can someone pleaseeeeee help us out here?????
