Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 81 year old grandfather fell and hit his head due to symptoms similar to a heart attack. He has a pace maker. He has been going into a doctor to have fluid in his lungs drained several times. Currently he has no fluid in his lungs. He has no bleeding or bruising of the brain. He has a good heart rate and good pulse. The doctors brought his temperature down to 91.2 degrees, and he is on propofol. This accident just happened yesterday, so he has only been sedated for 14 hours. At the 12 hour make the doctors began bringing his temp back to normal. It should be back to normal 8 hours from now. Once his temp is back to normal (total of 36 hours after the fall), they will take him off the propofol. How long will it take for him to wake up? What are the first body parts to move, or signs he will be waking up?
