Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 5 month old has been really colicky and I just assumed it was normal colic until recently due to the fact that she is 5 and a half months. In fact it seems to be getting worse. She seems to have a lot of gas pains and an especially hard time in the evenings and at night. She will arch her back and then double over in pain. It wakes her up at night. She also spots up A LOT!!!! I decided (on my own to try eliminating dairy just to see if that helps, it's been 4 days now) her poop had been brownish-yellow with white chunks in it that looked like small bits of cottage cheese. It smells like vinegar to me. It had just always been this way. I asked the doc about it and he said it was normal so I never thought twice about it. The day after I gave up dairy I noticed her poop didn't have the white clumps anymore. Is this proof that she is dairy or lactose intolerant? Is this something she will outgrow? I know that it could take like 3 weeks for the dairy to be completely out of her system. The colic episodes are still happening. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thank you
