My 16 yo daughters MRA just came back. It says:
MRA OF THE BRAIN
HISTORY
Migraine for 2 years, head pressure for the past 4 to 5 days, no known injury,
no history of
cerebrovascular accident, malignancy, or seizures
TECHNIQUE
MRA of the head was performed. In addition to axial source images, 3D rotating
MIP images were
obtained at a separate workstation.
FINDINGS
Pituitary gland appears normal. Tonsillar ectopia is seen measuring 3.5 mm. On
T1-weighted imaging,
the brain appears within normal limits.
The left vertebral artery is slightly dominant. The bilateral superior
cerebellar arteries are
unremarkable. Normal course and caliber of the basilar artery. Visualized
distal internal carotid
arteries are patent. Anterior, middle and posterior cerebral arteries are
patent. The posterior
communicating arteries and anterior communicating artery appear normal. No
aneurysm or AV
malformation.
IMPRESSION
Normal appearance of the intracranial vessels. There is mild tonsillar ectopia
measuring 3.5 mm.
I don't know much about this besides what I am reading here. She told me a few days ago she feels like she is dying. "It feels like my head is going to explode from the pressure" as she points the the back of her head at base. She has had headaches for a couple of years but this pain is all new in the past several days. Vision changes when she looks up and she says everything just seems like it has a black veil over it when she looks up. Also her glaucoma screening was mildly elevated a year ago. (I think 20 or 22??). Moody. panic attacks, anxiety, sweating all the time, etc. She also has been dx with Hashimotos so is on levothyroxine 75mcg. Will the Tonsillar ectopia get worse as she gets older? I read it is familial. What are some treatments and any suggestions please. I am a worried mom.
Thank you so much in advance for your time!!!
