I've Suffered From Chronic Back Pain For Over Ten Years.

I've suffered from chronic back pain for over ten years. My doctors have prescribed roxicotin and other opioids over the years. For the last 3 years I've been taking methadone and have found this to be the most effective way to gain enough pain relief to have a descent quality of life. I was being prescribed 150 10mg tabs a month. I started with 120 a month and a little over a year ago it was increased to 150. Now my pain management doctor has reduced my dosage to 120 and is talking about lowering it to 90 a month. He hasn't really explained why he wants to reduce the amount I'm taking and I'm concerned that this large of drop will affect my level of pain relief. I'm 62 years old and was forced to retire do to my pain issues. My son who is 29 recently started seeing my doctor and he has had drug problems in the past. This is why I recommended him to see my doctor as I know they do screening. He was prescribed 165 methadome, 10 mg a month and attempted to fill them at 4 different places. When I saw my doctor today he asked me about the pharmacy I used and gave me the impression he thought I was using more then one. I've been seeing this same doctor for years and have never had him treat me in a manner that made me feel he thought I was only trying to get drugs. Both my son and I go by Jim or James Cox and I have the feeling he is somehow mixing the two of us up. He was very curt and when I tried to ask him questions he was evasive or non responsive. I'd like to clear this issue up. I want to email him my views and ask him if he is confusing me with my son and if that's not the case I'd like to try and find out why he has started to treat me like I've done something wrong. It's my understanding that usually dosages of certain medications are increahe sed due to a tolerance build up, not reduced when my level of pain has not changed. I am correct in this assumption and should I write the letter to try and find out what is going on. I know this is a bit complicated without a lot of details but other then my son starting to see him there has been nothing out of the ordainary change that would warrant his sudden change in the way he is treating me.What would you suggest. Thanks for any advice you can give.
