I've had colorectal cancer with radiation chemo and surgery. My bowels don't seem to work just right but the debilitating pain comes from my rectum. I can help relieve the pain with hot and/or cold.
Someone has mentioned there may be nerves in the rectum that became severed or damaged, and that pain is a little harder to heal than other soft tissue.
