Is Warfarin Recommended In Old Age For Cold And Cough?
I am a man of 70years I have been on Warafrin for 4 months. I have been on holiday in this country Stratford upon Avon and I have had a chesty cold for 6 days. I am home now, I have an appointment with my nurse tomorrow at 11.30am should I ask her for a prescription or just buy a cough mixture at the Chemist. Thanks
I understand from you inquiry that you have a chest cold for the past 6 days and need to know if just taking a cold cough suppressant would be enough to stop the cough. There are several over the counter medication to help reduce cough like guaifenesin and dextromethorphan. My concern for you is if the cough is productive with sputum and may need additional treatment with an antibiotic. Your provider needs to know about the warfarin because it maybe influenced by the antibiotics. I recommend you give the OTC medication a trial first and then see your provider if you fail to improve
Hope this helps answer your query. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us again.
