Hello,

I can understand your concern. Cigarettes and tobacco pouches contain about 4000 chemicals including nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, DDT, ammonia etc. Our body is not used to digesting such toxins, especially when these products are tried only a few times and the person is not yet addicted to it. Vomiting is a natural defensive way of body to get rid of such toxins to prevent them from mixing into blood.

As your son ingested little higher amount of tobacco, he might feel sick. He can drink lots of fluids. He will be fine after a while and you may not need a trip to hospital. You can advise him that this is body's way of telling him not to use such products and he should stop using cigarettes and tobacco.

However, if he develops abdominal cramps, difficulty in breathing, restlessness, confusion, burning mouth, disorientation etc., then emergency care is requires as these are signs of nicotine poisoning.

I hope this answer helps. Thank you for choosing HCM. Let me know if you have follow up questions.

Best,
