Is Vomiting Always From A Stomach Virus Or Could It Be From A Cold ?

My nine year old vomited 1 time last night. He seems to have a sensitive gag reflex and is experiencing post nasal drip. He has no fever and was fine all day. He had an appetite and only is bothered by a cough. He vomited again tonight. Is the vomiting from a stomach virus or could it just be from a cold ?

Hello,

Cold with post nasal drip may cause irritation of post pharyngeal wall lead to vomiting.

Nasal block due to cold and oral breathing may be due to sudden aspiration of oral contents may lead to cough and vomiting. Also, many other causes for vomiting. Use salt water gargling and water vapor inhalation.

Use antiemetic drug if it is severe. Please consult your doctor, he/she will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
