Is There Interaction Between Macrobid And Celexa?

Hello, my doctor just called me and left a message on my voice mail stating that there may be a interaction between my macrobid I just started and my celexa. She said to take just 20 mg of celexa instead of the reg. 40 mg. I was just wondering what the interactions would have been.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
As such there is no specific drug interaction between Celexa (citalopram) and Macrobid (nitrofurantoin). But the standard starting dose of Celexa is 20 mg daily. Celexa 40 mg is a high starting dose. Celexa 40 mg may cause side effects like sedation. Your doctor might have suggested Celexa 40 mg by mistake, so he has corrected by sending you a message. But as such there is no specific drug interaction between both drugs. So relax and don’t worry and continue with Celexa 20 mg daily and Macrobid as suggested dose. Please do not change dose of drug by yourself unless suggested by your doctor.
Thanks
