Is There Any Problem Of Taking High Dose Of Amoxicillin?

I gave my 14 month old a tablespoon (literally a spoon full, since I lost the syringe) of amoxicillin instead of a teaspoon- what should I do? I m not sure the spoons we use on the table are accurately a tablespoon ? and it wasn t completely full....I didn t know how many mls in a teaspoons...anyway, should I worry about seizers or anything like that?

Hi and thanks for this query.

Higher than recommended doses of a drug are not advised. I will suggest that you stop administering this medication until you obtain a new syringe as soon as possible to make sure you are administering the right dose. Drugs are only helpful when correctly administered and present potential life threatening risk if not well administered. There is no need to get too worried for a onetime poorly administered dose but do not repeat similar mistakes.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information if needed.
