Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain in case if you are undergoing surgery for impacted wisdom tooth then it is true that you should take antibiotic cover to prevent post operative infection..
As you are advised to take Penicillin then it is generally given to adults with a maximum dose of 500 mg 4 times day..
But taking 2000mg in a single dose before operation is too much of a dose and you need to consult your treating dentist and get a confirmation done as there is a possibility that there has been some confusion..
Taking 500mg four times a day even on the day of operation along with one dose 2 hours before the operation is appropriate but taking such a high dose is not recommended and it will be better if you consult your dentist before taking the antibiotic.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
