Is Taking Foracort Advisable Instead Of Symbicort For COPD?

I m 64 and have COPD. I have been taking Symbicort 160/4.5. I found a another inhaler called Foracort 6/200 that says it is the generic for the Symbicort. However i am confused by the numbers. How can it be a generic form when the numbers are totally different? Would this be safe to take? Thank you,Herb

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, it is totally safe to take in COPD. Steroids are a hallmark of COPD treatment and should be continued according to the lung conditions and Doctor's advice. They help to reduce the symptoms and inflammation of the respiratory tract. Foracort is a potent steroid.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh, General & Family Physician
