Is Syntha Consumption During Pregnancy Safe?

31 weeks pregnant. Tired of lean muscle meal shakes from GNC. I tried the syntha 6 strawberry flavor since it was cheaper and to get the 50 grams of protein they want me to drink but is it safe. Someone said lead, mercury, can be an issue and the six different proteins cause a baby with big muscles....any thoughts.....had preeclampsia with first kid and this second one is just fine so far but don't want to over due the protein in the wrong way....any thoughts

You should check if there is any lead or mercury in syntha, though I doubt that it is present. If they are in the product, you should not use it. The amount of protein you consume should not effect your baby or your pregnancy, unless of course you are not getting enough protein in your diet. However, it sound like you are getting enough protein based on what you wrote. There is no concern about teh baby getting big muscles, unless you are taking hormone, and there are no hormones in the syntha.

In general though, there is really no need to take products like syntha, if yo have a healthy and well balanced diet. That is best for you and your baby, and will result in the healthiest pregnancy. Discuss this with your doctor if you need help determining if your general diet is appropriate for you and your pregnancy. I hope this was helpful to you, please let me know if you have any more questions.
